Can I code DocuSign?

Drawing a signature on a PDF is an afternoon. But nobody pays DocuSign to draw squiggles — they pay for the audit trail a court will accept. You can't code your way to legal weight.

VIBE SCORE 93/100

how this is worked out

Why CanICodeThis says Just pay

  • The product is compliance: identity verification, tamper-evident seals, retention, and case law where their trails held up
  • The counterparty's lawyer recognizes the envelope; your homemade signing page starts every deal with a credibility tax
  • When a signature is disputed, 'my weekend project logged an IP address' is not the position you want

Read before building

  • For internal, low-stakes sign-offs (club forms, roommate agreements) a simple signing page is genuinely fine — the verdict is about contracts that matter
  • Per-envelope pricing punishes low volume; for a few contracts a year, pay-as-you-go competitors undercut the subscription

The build spec

Don't rebuild DocuSign for real contracts. For internal low-stakes forms only: build me a signing page that takes a PDF, lets a named recipient draw or type a signature, flattens it onto the document, emails both parties the result, and appends a plain-language log (who, when, from where). Label the output clearly as informal. Separately: list pay-per-envelope e-signature services so occasional real contracts don't need a subscription.
